Port Kusam Buildings

Port Kusam Buildings

As recent as the 1970s, the Port Kusam buildings were still standing, although it poor condition. Today the port can still be accessed via a hiking trail. Ruins of the collapsed buildings and wharf are still visible.

One of the buildings included the Ruby Hotel, right by the ferry dock where the Alaska ferry would refuel before there was a Kelsey Bay terminal.

There was also a sawmill in the 1960s and 1970s that supplied lumber for some home construction in the Sayward Valley.
